France has a thoroughly modern transport system. The railway network stretches 31,840 kilometres (19,784 mi) is the most extensive in Western Europe. It is operated by the SNCF, and high-speed trains include the Thalys, the Eurostar and TGV, which travels at 320 km/h (200 mph) in commercial use. France is connected to the United Kingdom by the Eurostar, air-travel and the cross channel ferries.

The motorway network is modern and though there is no annual fee, the motorways operate a toll service, you can choose not to use the motorways but the going will be much slower.

There are ten major airports in France and Air France is the national carrier airline, although numerous private airline companies provide domestic and international travel services. The largest Airport is Marseille which also is the largest bordering the Mediterranean Sea.
