Larger and less strongly characterised by the German dialect than
its neighbour Alsace, Lorraine is less chocolate box pretty. Its
a region better explored in dramatic sweeps than minute detail.
From the haunting solitude of the WWI battlefields to the elegantly
refined beauty of Nancy, the drama of Lorraine is on a big scale.
A scale that nature has choreographed with largely unspoiled countryside,
rolling farmlands, the major rivers of the Moselle, the Meurthe
and Meuse, all set on the luxuriantly forested stage of the Lorraine
plateau.
